What is suitable for simulation?
Our simulation expert Dirk Wortmann answers this question as follows: “Everything that I can plan with Excel and get a high degree of accuracy there, I don’t necessarily have to simulate, of course.
But the moment I go beyond the Excel calculation and there is a dynamic in the system, due to interaction between components, due to random influences, etc., it makes sense to simulate in any case.
Sometimes these can even be seemingly straightforward issues, where you suddenly realize, when you put a simulation on it, “Oops, it’s not that simple after all”. You should at least take a look at it in the model.
And it has to be said that if I have a simple problem, the model creation is usually relatively simple and therefore the effort is manageable. With complexity, the effort increases on the other hand. So in this respect, the topic of simulation is always coupled to this complexity.”
