The prize, which has been awarded by the GOR every two years since 2006, honors companies that have made a special commitment to the use and dissemination of operations research in practice. Past award winners include Siemens AG and BASF SE.
With the award, the GOR recognizes SimPlan’s commitment around simulation in the field of production and logistics, the connection of simulation and optimization in practice, as well as SimPlan’s close cooperation with universities in the education of students and in joint research projects, as the chairwoman of the award jury, Prof. Leena Suhl from the University of Paderborn, pointed out when presenting the award to SimPlan board members Dr. Harry Kestenbaum and Dr. Ulrich Burges.
“We see the award ceremony as an incentive to continue our intensive commitment to research, development and training,” said SimPlan board spokesman Dr. Sven Spieckermann.
