Our series “SimPlan turns 30” / Part 15 – Foundation of the Bremen branch office
In 2016, SimPlan AG took over jasima Solutions and transformed it into the SimPlan Bremen branch at the beginning of 2017.
Thus, Bremen is currently the youngest SimPlan branch. From here, customers from northern Germany in particular can be served even better. The managers of the branch are Torsten Hildebrandt and Dirk Steinhauer.
The main focus is on the maritime industry, simulation-based optimisation and the linking of simulation and individual software solutions.
Bremen is responsible for the maintenance and further development of the STS construction kit for complex production and logistics. Among other things, this building block supports the modelling in Siemens Plant Simulation of complex production processes that are not organised as assembly lines and whose products are manufactured in small batch sizes. In addition, the STS kit covers application fields in the area of maritime logistics.
In addition, the further development of the discrete-event simulation library jasima (Java Simulator for Manufacturing and Logistics) takes place at the location. The software library is characterised by a very high simulation speed and very flexible adaptation and integration options. By coupling it with AI methods, it opens up completely new possibilities for simulation-based optimisation. For example, in detailed production planning, automatically generated, improved planning and control rules can be used to achieve shorter throughput times and greater adherence to schedules.
