Our series “SimPlan turns 30” / Part 11 – Founding of SimPlan Systems GmbH
Sven Spieckermann and Florian Seeanner, who was supervising the simulation lecture as a doctoral student at the time, came into contact through his lecturing activities at the TU Darmstadt. The idea was quickly born to found SimPlan Systems GmbH together with Jürgen Effenberger, also a graduate of the TU Darmstadt, in order to combine SimPlan’s software development capacities and to build up expert knowledge in the field of optimisation and make it available to customers. The company was finally founded in April 2012.
In the meantime, the focus of SimPlan Systems is on the development of software solutions for production and logistics planning based on mathematical optimisation and AI. In addition to consulting services and customised developments, SimPlan Systems now also offers commercial-off-the-shelf products such as SimODM as a holistic APS solution and SimDTL for scheduling control.
SimPlan Systems thus takes into account increasing customer requirements for the linking of intelligent optimisation approaches with simulation models as well as the increased demand for individual software solutions for the optimisation and simulation of operational processes.
The technical bandwidth of the solutions ranges from web applications to desktop applications to mobile applications for smartphones. The systems offered usually provide interfaces to Office applications, database systems or company software (e.g. ERP or legacy systems). As a holistic solution provider, SimPlan Systems supports its customers both in an advisory capacity and in terms of implementation and support. From requirements analysis through realisation and implementation to commissioning and, if desired, beyond. A customisable maintenance package and introductory or product-specific in-depth training round off the range of services.
