Our series „SimPlan turns 30“ / Part 10 – Foundation of SimPlan China
In June 2010, SimPlan founded a subsidiary in Shanghai in order to gain customers in the still rapidly growing industry and logistics in the Middle Kingdom.
Dirk Wortmann, founder of SimPlan AG alongside Sven Spieckermann, became Managing Director of SimPlan China and spent a total of 6 years in Shanghai and Shenyang developing the China business.
In the first years, some projects could be carried out mainly for the branch of German companies. While this business developed in a stable manner, Chinese customers found it difficult to purchase consulting services such as those offered by SimPlan for various reasons.
In the end, it was probably mainly a question of different mentalities that led SimPlan to reduce its involvement in China in 2019. The subsidiary was sold and instead a cooperation was entered into with the new owner C-P-S, which made it possible to continue sales in the country and also conclude local contracts. The former subsidiary became a sales office that continues to provide SimPlan services in China to this day.
