Virtual award ceremony at the 19th ASIM symposium
As the largest European simulation conference for production and logistics, the ASIM symposium presents forward-looking trends and current developments, scientific papers and interesting applications in industry every two years. This year, the conference was held online for the first time, but with the usual high participation. Thus, there were about 180 participants who exchanged views on the topic of simulation in 4 parallel tracks and 70 technical presentations from September 15 to 17.
This year ASIM awarded the student Christina Gschwendtner from Söchtenau for her master thesis on simulation in civil engineering. With the help of sponsors SimPlan AG and INCONTROL Simulation Software, a jury selected Ms. Gschwendtner’s work from the numerous submissions. The work focuses on the logistics of interior construction projects. The applicability beyond the individual case was rated particularly positively.
Since this year’s ASIM conference was held exclusively online due to Corona and none of the participants could be present in Erlangen at the Friedrich-Alexander University, the award winner received the prize of 1,000 euros “virtually” at a ceremony.
The Arbeitsgemeinschaft Simulation (ASIM) is a technical committee of the Gesellschaft für Informatik (GI). The mission of ASIM is to promote and further develop modeling and simulation in fundamentals and applications and to improve communication between theory and practice. It is a founding member of EUROSIM, the umbrella organization of European simulation societies.
ASIM is thus the most important platform for developers and users of simulation in German-speaking countries.
It is structured in expert groups dealing with specific areas of modeling and simulation, currently Foundations and Methods in Modeling and Simulation – GMMS, Environmental and Geosciences – SUG, Simulation of Technical Systems – STS, Simulation in Production and Logistics – SPL, and Education and Simulation – EDU.
