Innovative methods for process optimisation
The digitalisation of industrial processes opens up new possibilities for increasing efficiency and optimising resilience. As part of the ADREAN (Advanced Data-driven Resilience Engineering and Analysis) research project, an interdisciplinary consortium is investigating new methods for improving production and logistics processes by combining process mining and simulation. SimPlan AG is contributing its expertise in the field of simulation technology to develop a demonstrator for the automatic generation and optimisation of simulation models.
Objectives of the research project
The ADREAN project focuses on the development of new methods for analysing and designing robust process structures. Particular attention is paid to automated modelling based on real event data and simulation-based optimisation of target processes. The project has the following central objectives:
- Automatic generation of simulation models: Based on actual event logs, realistic simulation models are created that map existing process structures in detail.
- Generation of target event logs: Through targeted modifications of the simulation models, alternative process flows are simulated in order to identify optimal structures and improved workflows.
- Traceable process analysis: The generated simulation models make it possible to reconstruct the underlying process graphs as accurately as possible from simulated event logs.
- Increasing resilience through simulation and process mining: By combining both approaches, methods for analysing and evaluating the resilience of processes are developed to ensure robust and flexible business processes.
The role of SimPlan AG
As part of the ADREAN project, SimPlan AG is developing a powerful demonstrator that enables the automatic generation of simulation models and event logs. Particular emphasis is placed on the exact mapping of real process graphs and the simulation-based optimisation of target processes. This innovative technology makes it possible to analyse alternative process variants and evaluate their impact on efficiency, costs and resilience.
Conclusion and outlook
ADREAN sets new standards in digital process optimisation. The combination of process mining and simulation offers companies a powerful tool for the data-driven analysis and design of future-proof production and logistics processes. With its expertise, SimPlan AG is helping to make these technologies practical and create sustainable added value for companies.
