SOSS (“Speed up OEE with silently Shuttle”) – Development of novel silent product shuttles to increase plant OEE.
Overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) determines the economic success of manufacturing companies. The speed of the line has an influence on this, but the proportionally generated noise emission is a limiting factor. In many filling lines, transport systems are used to simplify the handling of container sizes and shapes. The use of such shuttles allows a higher output, limited by the noise emission. So far, the influence of the material and the design of the shuttles on the noise emission has hardly been considered. The first step of the research project is the development of innovative product shuttles that minimize noise emission. When considering the target value, maximization of OEE, a large number of influencing factors arise, which leads to an exploding number of model variants.
In a second step, the development of an assistance system by SimPlan AG together with HS Hannover should simplify exactly this. Based on approximation methods, the system derives the relationships from the various parameters and thus enables the solution of the tension between acoustic emission and OEE described at the beginning.
The project consortium includes the following partners:
- HS Hannover
- SimPlan AG (consortium leader)
- Franz Tölke GmbH
The SOSS research project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. The funding started in September 2020 and will last 3 years.
