Plant Simulation
Application / Benefit
Plant Simulation (formerly eM-Plant, Simple++) is a standard software for the simulation of highly complex production systems and control strategies.
The tool is characterized by object-oriented, graphical and integrated modeling, simulation and animation of systems and business processes. Plant Simulation is an important component and the entry tool into the Digital Factory topic in the software portfolio of Siemens Digital Industries Software.

Typical questions for simulation tools
- How can investment costs be minimized?
- Will the required output be achieved?
- What happens in case of changes in the number of pieces?
- How can inventories be reduced?
- What is the best control strategy?
- What is the effect of rush orders?
- What is the best planning alternative?
- and much more.
Statistical evaluation
Plant Simulation offers different statistics for model parameters: Interval statistics, overall statistics and momentary statistics.
Comprehensive analysis tools, such as automatic bottleneck analysis, Sankey diagram and Gantt chart (planning board)
Structure / Modules
All Plant Simulation basic and user modules are visible and accessible in the freely configurable module library. Any user modules are created graphically and interactively by the user himself from basic modules. These include:
- Integrated neural networks
- Factor analysis
- Experiment management
- Automated optimization of system parameters
- Lot size and sequence planning (sequencing)
- Integration / Interfaces
Interfaces open Plant Simulation for integration purposes. It is important that data can be exchanged not only at the beginning and at the end, but also during the simulation time, and Plant Simulation can be manipulated and controlled by other programs (ARIS, ActiveX, C DDE, Mailbox, ODBC (e.g. MS Access), Socket SQL (e.g. ORACLE, MS SQL Server).
